The UKs Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) has determined that Napoleon Casinos’ advertisements boasting “unlimited gambling” for customers are deceptive.
The ASA discovered that advertisements published on napoleons-casinos.co.uk and Facebook, which assured customers of “unlimited game entry draws” and “unrestricted gambling,” contravened advertising standards.
A person lodging a complaint argued that all the terms were socially irresponsible.
A&S Leisure, the company behind Napoleon Casinos, maintained that they were permitted to promote unlimited or unrestricted gambling to members under UK anti-money laundering regulations.
However, the ASA decided that such language should not be included in future advertisements as it could be interpreted as encouraging irresponsible gambling.
An ASA statement declared: “The CAP Code stipulates that advertisements must not depict, endorse or promote socially irresponsible gambling, or be likely to cause financial, social or emotional harm.”
These commercials falsely portray gambling as limitless, which is misleading. They encourage excessive wagering, potentially leading to detrimental financial, social, and emotional consequences.
We believe these advertisements are unethical and violate regulations.
Earlier this year, A&S faced significant penalties from the UK Gambling Commission for failing to adequately prevent money laundering.
