The Ukrainian gambling oversight body, the Gambling and Lottery Regulation Commission (KRAIL), has declared the blocking of 594 illicit gambling sites as part of its effort to suppress unauthorized gambling in Ukraine.
KRAIL has pinpointed over 1,000 unlicensed gambling websites and 100 land-based gambling venues that are operating in defiance of Article 203-2 of the Ukrainian Criminal Code.
Three court judgments today (July 26) decided to block 594 unlawful gambling websites, prohibiting them from operating within Ukraine. During the inquiry into these websites, authorities conducted searches and confiscated gambling machines and computer equipment.
The pertinent information has been submitted to the Unified Register of Pre-Trial Investigations in Ukraine for evaluation.
Moreover, KRAIL is appealing to the public to provide hints on illicit gambling activities, such as locations, to aid the regulator in its inquiries.
Earlier this month, KRAIL initiated a nationwide self-exclusion system that permits customers to opt to ban themselves from gambling for a period of six months to three years.
The Ukrainian legislature recently passed a 10% levy on gaming, just twelve months after the nation legalized it.
