A Romanian firm, Superbet, is acquiring all the stock of Napoleon, presently under the ownership of the investment fund Waterland Private Equity. Superbet asserts that this transaction will facilitate their expansion across Europe and beyond, granting them access to the regulated Belgian market.
Johnny Hartnett, the head of Superbet Group, stated that apart from entering new markets, another significant advantage of the deal is acquiring Napoleon’s workforce.
“Napoleon’s primary market and brand in Belgium represent an ideal opportunity for us to expand globally. It also aligns with our strategy to generate greater revenue from regulated markets with a robust online presence,” he remarked.
“We are thrilled to welcome the experienced and skilled team to Superbet, and we believe they will be instrumental in expanding our market share in Belgium and beyond.”
Tim de Borle, the leader of Napoleon Sports & Casino, expressed that the agreement is logical, as both companies share similar strategies, such as a focus on data.

Oakvale Capital, PJT Partners, Latham & Watkins, PwC, CMS, and Herzog Fox & Neeman provided guidance to Superbet during the deal.
In the previous year, SuperBet expanded its reach by acquiring a 60% interest in the online casino operator Lucky 7.
The operator’s recent growth was facilitated by a €175 million strategic investment from the private equity giant Blackstone.
