Gaming providers in Sweden, including ATG, Svenska Spel, and Kindred Group, have partnered to disclose information about players exhibiting indications of gambling difficulties.
This joint effort seeks to enhance openness and promote a data-driven dialogue on mitigating gambling-related harm. The arrangement will involve the three entities publishing data on four essential metrics semiannually. These metrics encompass:
* The proportion of active users who have been contacted due to potentially harmful gambling habits.
* The efficacy of these engagements, specifically the number of users who subsequently curtail their gambling.
* The typical decrease in gambling activity among these users.
* The quantity of contacted users who opt for self-exclusion from gambling, extending beyond the operator that initiated contact.
This coalition of operators underscores a Swedish Public Health Agency study that revealed 56% of Swedish citizens engaged in some form of gambling within the past year, emphasizing the significance of this data for a comprehensive understanding. While gambling constitutes a prevalent leisure activity in Sweden, the same study also indicated limited public confidence in the gambling sector.
“Regularly reporting on these vital figures will facilitate our stakeholders’ ability to monitor and comprehend our efforts in combating detrimental gambling through regulatory measures, technological advancements, research initiatives, and human interaction,” states Henrik Tjärnström, Chief Executive Officer of Kindred Group.
