Betsson has finalized the rebranding of the Brazilian gaming operator, Suaposta, renaming it to Betsson. This action marks the culmination of a procedure initiated last December when Betsson procured a 75% share in the equestrian wagering enterprise. Suaposta, formerly a component of Codere SA, already held a prominent position as a supplier of online wagering for horse races within Brazil. This acquisition and subsequent name change are unambiguous indicators of Betsson’s resolute dedication to becoming a dominant force within the dynamic and swiftly expanding Brazilian market.
The name change constitutes a segment of a broader collaborative endeavor between Betsson and the Rio Grande do Sul Jockey Club. This alliance also encompasses the integration of Betsson’s technological framework with the Jockey Club and the establishment of a specialized customer support unit situated within Brazil.
André Gelfi, the originator of Suaposta and current Managing Director of Betsson Brazil, conveyed his enthusiasm regarding the project’s culmination: “We are elated to unveil our novel platform and solidify the Betsson brand within Brazil.” He underscored the company’s pledge to a fluid transition, stating, “We have maintained open communication with our clientele throughout each phase of the rebranding procedure to guarantee a seamless shift and to familiarize them with Betsson.”
This maneuver follows a prosperous year for Betsson, notwithstanding the obstacles presented by the global health crisis. The corporation exhibited remarkable expansion in 2020, with Q2 earnings attaining SEK 1.53 billion (USD 1.708 billion) – a 20% surge year-over-year.
